Preface:

This is a flash fiction, written by me in 2018 during my high school days.

A bird was sitting on the extremity of the mountain corner. His both eyes were seized on the blue sky with clouds all around. His talons were frozen on the scant sand, spread on the surface. Then he saw other birds flying high in the sky and his eyes moved steadily without any interruptions in the direction of the flying birds. After a moment the birds became out of his sight. He again got stuck in his bottomless thought.

After a while, he just move backward and stopped. He moved his neck to right and saw the right side of the body without a wing and then he moved his neck to left it was the same, there was no wing on its left side too. But he has the mind and in that mind, he has the desire to fly. He wants to fly with all ease like other birds. He just set up his mind to fly. He took a deep breath and put force on his talons and with his all strength, with all his determination, with all his courage, he ran with meteoric speed towards the extremity of the mountain and just leaped without any thought of fear towards the shiny blue sky. He kept his head towards the sky but he was falling down with the speed of a bullet. He did not consider himself falling, he thought himself flying in the sky with all ease. He knew he has used all of his inner force of himself and he will definitely fly. But the law of nature did not change. The thing which changed was his perception of flying. While he was falling he found himself flying to the last limit of the sky. The time he remained in the air he was flying in his mind with peace. And in his reality, this flight was much better than the flight of any bird. He felt that this flight was never-ending. As he was falling down he got hit by a boulder and he died at that moment but he died with all peace. His beak could not tell that he was smiling but he was really smiling inside. He died while achieving his ambition and he used all of his force to get the aim. I think he was really flying as he gave his hundred percent and as result, he remained in the air with all his grace, without fear and this was his victory, his real victory. I don’t know what other observers see, a dying bird or an insane bird but I see a bird without wings flying high and high and so high…
